Corporate Retreats at Waterwynch House
The best thinking rarely happens at a desk. It happens when people step away from the familiar, spend proper time together and find space to think clearly. Waterwynch House offers exactly that: an exclusive-use coastal retreat in Pembrokeshire where a leadership team or board can gather, work and reconnect in a setting that feels genuinely removed from the day-to-day.
The house sits above its own beach just outside Tenby, within ten acres of private gardens and woodland. Sleeping up to 30 guests across 12 ensuite bedrooms, the house works particularly well for senior groups of up to 12, where each attendee has their own room. Where guests are happy to share, it can accommodate up to 23 in separate beds across the 12 rooms, which suits training cohorts, graduate inductions and team development programmes. The house combines generous shared spaces for meetings and collaboration with quieter corners for focused work and private conversation.
When you hire Waterwynch for a corporate retreat, the entire property is yours. There are no other guests, no shared facilities with strangers and no sense of conducting sensitive conversations in a hotel corridor. Just your team, in a remarkable setting, with the time and space to do the work that matters.
The difference between a retreat that transforms and one that merely ticks a box often comes down to setting. Read about what a corporate retreat at Waterwynch looks like in practice.
Room to Think, Freedom to Speak
Waterwynch attracts senior leadership teams and boards who want something more considered than a standard conference hotel. The scale of the house allows a group to work together intensively without feeling confined, and the setting provides a quality of environment that signals to a team that their time together is being taken seriously.
The Great Hall is well suited to whole-group sessions and presentations. Smaller reception rooms offer natural breakout spaces for working groups or one-to-one conversations. The Sky Room, with its panoramic views across Carmarthen Bay, provides a setting for the kind of reflective discussion that rarely happens around a boardroom table.
Outside, the private grounds, coastal paths and direct beach access offer space to clear the head between sessions. There is something about a coastal setting that encourages a different quality of thinking, and guests who have used the house for corporate purposes consistently comment on how productive and restorative the combination proves to be.
The Right Fit for Your Organisation
Waterwynch is particularly well suited to smaller, senior groups where the quality of time together matters more than the size of the delegate list. Board away days, senior leadership team retreats, partner meetings for professional services firms and strategy offsites for growing businesses can all be hosted.
Professional services firms, including law firms, accountancy practices and consultancies, find the house a natural fit. It offers the discretion, quality and exclusivity that senior professionals expect, in a setting that feels like a reward for the team as much as a working environment.
The house is well positioned for the economic centres of South Wales and the West of England, including Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol and Bath, all within around two hours. For most groups travelling from these areas, Waterwynch is practical for a two to four night stay without flights or lengthy travel.
What a Corporate Retreat at Waterwynch Includes
The house accommodates up to 30 overnight guests across 12 ensuite bedrooms, the house works particularly well for senior groups of up to 12, where each attendee has their own room. Where guests are happy to share, it can accommodate up to 23 in separate beds across the 12 rooms. Every bedroom is finished to the same standard, each with its own character. There are no short-straw rooms, which matters when the group is senior and the rooms are allocated by someone who has to work with them afterwards. Stable WiFi is available throughout the house. The variety of reception rooms provides natural spaces for plenary sessions, breakout groups and informal conversation without the need for additional room hire or a conference suite.
Catering is flexible and can be shaped around the rhythm of your retreat. Options include working with one of our trusted local catering partners, who know the house well and are experienced in catering for working groups, or self-catering using the well-equipped kitchens. A separate professional catering kitchen means meals can be prepared without disrupting the working or social spaces of the house.
Whether you need a straightforward three or four night stay with catered dinners and working lunches, or a more structured programme with facilitated sessions, evening entertainment or wellness treatments, we can help you put the right combination together and give you a clear sense of total cost before you commit to anything.
The house is available for exclusive hire throughout the year, including midweek stays. Corporate retreats typically run over three to four nights, allowing time for full working days alongside the kind of informal evening time that builds team cohesion in ways that a single day offsite rarely achieves.
Clear, Transparent Pricing
We understand that retreat organisers need an overall figure they can take to a budget holder, not a base hire cost with everything else to be confirmed separately.
Low season midweek rates start from £5,000 plus VAT for the whole house for four nights, which for a group of 12 is around £105 per person per night plus VAT for exclusive use of the entire property. Mid-season midweek rates typically run to around £8,300 plus VAT. The full schedule is published, so you can see exactly what the house costs before you enquire.
A low season, midweek, fully catered retreat, including accommodation, all lunches and dinners and drinks, typically comes to around £170 per person per night plus VAT all inclusive. For groups using the full capacity of 23, the per-person economics scale accordingly, with all-in costs falling to around £120 per person per night plus VAT. For context, a single room at a comparable country house hotel in this region runs to around £165 to £270 per room per night plus VAT, before a single meal or drink is included.
For VAT-registered businesses, the VAT recoverable element of the above is reclaimable in the normal way. Full VAT invoices can be provided.
Set Up to Make the Organiser’s Job Easier
Waterwynch is not a conventional conference venue. But it is set up to remove the practical risks that usually make organisers default to one.
There is ample on-site parking and EV charging. Tenby station is less than ten minutes away by taxi, with direct services to Cardiff. Reliable WiFi runs throughout the house, sufficient for Teams and Zoom sessions, with a large screen and HDMI in the main working space and flipchart and printing available. Our caterers accommodate dietary requirements with notice. For boards discussing sensitive matters, we are willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement before the stay.
Corporate bookings are handled by people who understand senior groups, confidential conversations and the practical pressure on the organiser. By the time your group arrives, every practical question has already been answered: the house is ready, the caterers are briefed, and the programme can start.
We have set out the full practical picture, including a sample four-night structure and exactly what we handle versus what you organise, in our guide for retreat organisers. Read: Planning a Corporate Retreat at Waterwynch →
Why Staying Together Changes Everything
There is a meaningful difference between a day delegate event and a residential retreat. The working sessions may look similar on paper, but what happens in between is where the real value lies.
Shared meals, an evening in the bar, a walk along the coastal path before the morning session starts, a conversation that continues long after the formal agenda has ended. These are the moments where trust is built, where difficult topics get aired and where a leadership team actually becomes a team.
Waterwynch is designed for exactly that kind of time together. The scale of the house means there is always somewhere to gather and always somewhere to be alone. The setting is distinctive enough to feel like a genuine departure from the ordinary, without being so remote or unusual that it becomes a distraction.
For organisations considering their next leadership retreat, it offers something that a conference hotel structurally cannot: the sense that the whole place belongs to you, with the opportunity to speak undisturbed, freely.
